Shreya, Age 9; Jenny Valdecanas, Instructor

Shreya, Age 9; Jenny Valdecanas, Instructor Shreya, Age 9; Jenny Valdecanas, Instructor When you see the results of your effort, the practice and time taken to get there makes it all worthwhile. This is what Shreya increasingly learned after her parents enrolled her in the Kumon Math and Reading programs. A Kumon student since kindergarten and now a fourth grader, she confidently attributes her consistent good grades to the solid study skills she developed at her Kumon learning center.   “Slowly seeing my good grades in school, I realized my efforts were not wasted. Kumon made me a better student overall and my teachers and parents are proud of my results,” says Shreya. Her parents noticed the responsibility and ownership Shreya has taken in her school work and the willingness to think more independently. “Because of Kumon, she spends minimal time in her math activities at school which helps her devote more time on other subjects and sports activities,” says Shreya’s dad, Samir.   Shreya plays basketball and tennis, loves to dance and swim and has competed in basketball and taekwondo tournaments. Recently Shreya reached a Kumon milestone, studying two years above her grade level in math. She also landed a Kumon “Mathlete” award for studying algebra in Kumon before entering middle school. By studying at her own pace Shreya will soon reach her next Kumon goal, studying factorization, at least by the time she reaches the sixth grade, predicts her Kumon Instructor, Jenny Valdecanas. One day Shreya hopes to become a doctor. With the self-confidence she developed, it will be no surprise this will be another one of her achieved milestones. The Importance of Good Writing and Reading Skills. - ALOHA Mind Math

The Importance of Good Writing and Reading Skills. Most children have their own style of creativity. But they don’t really lean toward writing as a means of expressing themselves. If you see that your child has the potential to develop good writing skills, it is better to help them develop these skills at an early age. Usually, apart from homework there is no stress on writing. Experts say improving writing and reading skills must not be neglected.Reading and writing development are intertwined in learning. The physical act of writing letters and words enhances a child’s ability to read. The complementary relationship between reading and writing continues long after these early efforts. Therefore, it is good to stress on improving writing skills at a young age itself. Good vocabulary is the foundation for good writing. The best way to improve children’s knowledge of words is to encourage them to read more, and look up the meanings of words they do not understand. Playing simple word games or even scrabble can greatly contribute towards building children’s vocabulary. Going through their homework to check for spelling and grammatical errors is also useful, as it will reinforce what is being taught in school. When children have a report to write at home, it is better to encourage them to make a rough draft first. This way spelling and other errors can b e avoided in the final copy. Using color pencils and pens with different colored inks are fun for kids. Also, providing them various kinds of paper for spontaneous writing projects will help. Cute note cards and stationery make writing letters and notes more interesting. Another activity that is sure to keep your child busy, is writing a picture story. Let her draw a picture and then describe it or even come up with a story. ALOHA is also introducing a unique approach to writing and reading. Solving Linear Inequalities

Solving Linear Inequalities Linear inequalities is the inequalities where the degree of the variables is one. An inequality equation can contain variables, constants and exponents for the variables. Inequality is the equation which has less than or greater than symbols in it i.e. and respectively There are different mathematical operations that can be used in an inequality like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Example 1: Find the solution of the inequality equation 7 x 1 20? Solution: Given is the inequality equation with one unknown variables x. 7 x - 1 20 is a linear inequality with greater than sign. Add 1 on both sided of the equation. This gives, 7 x - 1 + 1 10 + 1; 7 x 21; Now divide the inequality by 7 on both sides of the equation. Therefore, 7 x/ 7 21 /7; x 3. Hence the solution to the linear inequality is x 3. Example 2: Find the solution of the inequality equation 55 x - 16 94? Solution: Given is the inequality equation with one unknown variables x. 55 x - 16 94 is a linear inequality with lesser than sign. Add 16 on both sided of the equation. This gives, 55 x - 16 + 16 94 + 16; 55 x 110; Now divide the inequality by 55 on both sides of the equation. Therefore, 55 x/ 55 110 /55; x 2. Hence the solution to the linear inequality is x 2.

Top 8 Reasons Why You Need Online Help For Writing Assignments

Top 8 Reasons Why You Need Online Help For Writing Assignments Writing is an art and it comes naturally to a person if he has a flair for it. Even such a person needs to gather good writing skills to excel in his write ups and jump unto the spotlight of fame. Students stacked with piles of writing assignments have no time to gather such skills or they may not be masters in writing. In such a scenario, getting outside help is good for getting their academic assignments done with professional parameters and thus they could have an edge over others in their scores. Reasons why students need some online help for writing assignments Lack of time When there are lots of assignments in various subjects hanging over the minds of students, they could not find sufficient time to browse the material, pick out references and write the assignment in the manner which meets the expectations of the teacher. Lack of guidance Classrooms sizes are large and teachers attend to the calls of many students at a time. Individual attention to the student queries is out of question in this scenario and 90% of the students need guidance to understand the guide lines, concept of the topic, writing methods and so on. Lack of professional touch Professional writing skills matter a lot in writing assignments. It is not just assembling the matter and presenting it in the form of an essay. One needs to look into grammatical patterns, syntax, and vocabulary and right communicative language to get across the ideas. That way, professional experts from online centers could help students write with a professional touch and they also provide write ups that suit the requirements of the assignment. Lack of suitable research material Many students could have a motivation for writing an assignment. But searching out the theme sentence of the topic, researching it on Google, getting unto the right material and putting it across in the right format- all these may not be everyone’s cake and it also needs good grounding in writing skills. Online writers with their expert skills could offer assignments which are100% guaranteed with good material and excellent research work. Lack of knowledge about writing standards A research paper demands certain writing standards in a typical format like referencing , citation work, writing style etc to stand up to the stipulated rules of writing a paper. Students need to work hard towards these patterns of writing to get their papers approved by the teachers. Or else, all their work would prove futile. Plagiarism free content This is also a cause of concern for many students while writing assignments. They need to prove their originality in writing with a good flow of language and unique ideas. Plagiarism free content is an issue for students as it demands original writing flair from students. Lack of tips for writing assignments in a presentable manner As above mentioned, teachers have a large number of students to individualize their attention to students. Students need some personal guidance to know how to embellish a paper, improve the spontaneity of language and explain the topic in a logical manner. Such tips they could gain from online tutors for writing and make their writings exemplary ones and get fabulous scores. Lack of knowledge about proof reading and editing Proof reading is a great skill and copy editing is also equally important. If students do not know enough about all such aspects of writing a paper, half of their work is at a loss since they would not be able to sketch the final draft of their writing with 100% success. What are the High School English Courses

What are the High School English Courses Throughout your high school career, you are expected to fulfill a variety of English course requirements. Some may help you satisfy requirements at the college level, some will assist you in exploring creative writing, and some may simply help you develop the necessary skills to write successfully in the workplace. Like science courses and math courses, English coursework is typically divided up throughout your high school years. While every school and every students schedule are different, lets take a look at a basic guideline Freshman Language Arts During your ninth grade year, you will likely take a class referred to as Language Arts. The scope of this class is typically broad, designed to introduce young learners to the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills that will be necessary later in life. This course (and courses like these) will allow you to practice your writing skills in a variety of essays, explore a range of literary genres, and examine texts at a fairly granular level. Youll look at plot, voice, tone, characters, and so on. Sophomore Language Arts In a sophomore Language Arts class, you can expect to build upon the skills you learned in ninth grade. Youll likely focus a little more on the process of revision, employing practices like outlining and writing drafts as you develop your writing. You may also delve a little deeper into the texts youre reading, which will span even more literary genres. Expect to analyze theme, symbolism, imagery, etc. American Literature Your junior year of English coursework may focus on American Literature, though youll continue to build upon the reading and writing skills you focused on during your freshman and sophomore years as well. In terms of writing, expect to begin researching and incorporating outside sources into your essays. Youll be using context in your exploration of American Literature, too historical context, point of view, time period, and more. British/World Literature During your senior year of high school, you may broaden the scope of the work youre looking at to include British or even world literature. While you may have mostly focused on works of fiction before, you might now explore more nonfiction and poetry. The works you read will probably increase in complexity. As a writer, youll be expected to provide more in-depth analysis, so make sure youre familiar with a plethora of literary devices. You might also write research papers and other presentations that require more of a thought-out timeline to complete, which is an excellent time to practice your time and project management skills. Honors and AP Classes Many high schools will offer Honors or AP versions of the aforementioned classes, which will adhere to a similar (but more complex) format. Youll become more familiar with the why of writing, exploring why authors make the stylistic choices they do. Honors classes are typically offered during freshman and sophomore years, while AP classes (AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition) typically occur during junior and senior years. Electives Elective English classes can vary widely by school, but most high schools offer at least one or two. You might expect to find classes that focus on a particular writer (Shakespeare is a popular one) or a certain genre. You may also find creative writing classes offered, which will involve both reading and writing, though theyll go more in-depth than generic Language Arts classes. Never underestimate the value of strong reading and writing skills. Reading well will help you excel in other subjects, follow directions, and gain an advanced understanding of everything you study. Writing well will allow you to communicate more effectively, understand the motivations of other writers, and present yourself appropriately as a professional later in life. If youre interested in writing, certainly explore your elective options. If youre less reading/writing inclined, find something else that does get you excited about these skills, or consider seeking reading tutoring or writing tutoring. Your future self will thank you!
